PAL selling Phil­lies tick­ets

The Po­lice Ath­let­ic League of Phil­adelphia and the Ju­ni­or Base­ball Fed­er­a­tion cel­eb­rate their 64th year of part­ner­ship in rais­ing funds to sup­port in­ner-city youth by mak­ing Phil­lies tick­ets avail­able for pur­chase.

40 per­cent of each tick­et pur­chase is donated back to PAL. Tick­ets can be pur­chased at: PAL Headquar­ters, 2524 E. Clear­field St.

Walk­ing Fish shows

B. Someday Pro­duc­tions presents the fi­nal show of its sea­son, Sub­urb­an Motel – two plays in rep­er­tory. The plays, Fea­tur­ing Lor­etta and The End of Civil­iz­a­tion will play through June 30 at the Walk­ing Fish Theatre.

AMS move­ment classes

Angler Move­ment Stu­dio is of­fer­ing classes in ba­sic move­ment for both adults and chil­dren, as well as adult classes in Afric­an dance, bal­let, Pi­l­ates, kick­box­ing, stretch, Tai Chi, and more. AMS will of­fer con­tinu­ous six-week ses­sions that can be paid for in ad­vance ($80), or any class can be taken on a per class basis for a drop in rate of $15.

Bingo at LSH

The Luther­an Set­tle­ment House, at Frank­ford Av­en­ue and Mas­ter Street, will host bingo on Fri­day, June 22.

A spe­cial lunch will be for sale at 11:30 a.m.

The $7 ad­mis­sion in­cludes five lap cards and a free chance on the door prize.

Join St. Anne’s choir

The mu­sic pro­gram at St. Anne’s Church, loc­ated at 2328 E. Le­high Ave., is look­ing for chor­al sing­ers to join the church’s fest­iv­al choir. The choir will sing at the Sol­emn Clos­ing of the Novena to St. Anne on Thursday, Ju­ly 26 at 7 p.m.

Monkiewicz events

Monkiewicz Play­ground is hav­ing open re­gis­tra­tion for sum­mer camps for chil­dren ages 3 1/2 to 11.

Camps run through Au­gust 10, and after care is avail­able. Monkiewicz also has a few spaces in its fall Tot Rec. pro­gram for ages 2 1/2 to 4 1/2.

Frank Glav­in play­ground dance work­shop

Broad­way Dance is “step­pin’” to the Frank Glav­in play­ground, at 2600 E. West­mo­re­land St. this sum­mer, with a spe­cial dance work­shop pat­terned to Broad­way per­form­ances.

This eight-week in­struc­tion­al pro­gram will be held weekly on Wed­nes­day even­ings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. from June 20 through Au­gust 15 (no class Ju­ly 4). 

The course is de­signed for those 10 years old and older. 

Pro­gram cost is $50. Stu­dents should have tap or jazz shoes and wa­ter. Class size will be lim­ited, so re­gis­tra­tion in ad­vance is re­quired. Please con­tact the of­fice at 215-685-9898. ••

Be­hind the screens

Teens, ex­plore the ex­cit­ing world of how movies are made! Teen con­fer­ence

The “My Life, My Fu­ture,” 10th-an­nu­al Teen Con­fer­ence 2012 will be held Thursday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Temple Uni­versity Howard Git­tis Stu­dent Cen­ter, 1755 N. 13th St.

The con­fer­ence will cel­eb­rate 10 years of en­cour­aging, en­light­en­ing and em­power­ing youth with awe­some speak­ers. 

Dis­cus­sion top­ics range from self-es­teem to re­la­tion­ship vi­ol­ence to build­ing a suc­cess­ful fu­ture. There will also be great en­ter­tain­ment and plenty of giveaways.

Vi­et­nam Me­mori­al tours

In hon­or of the 25th an­niversary of the ded­ic­a­tion of the Phil­adelphia Vi­et­nam Vet­er­ans Me­mori­al at Front and Spruce streets, free edu­ca­tion­al guided tours are be­ing offered by the PVVM Fund.

The 25th an­niversary will be cel­eb­rated on Oc­to­ber 26 and 27. In­ter­ested parties can con­tact VEAP­DD214@gmail.com to sched­ule trips for Septem­ber or Oc­to­ber or spring of next year.

Lim­ited time slots are on a first-come, first-served basis. Cer­ti­fied teach­ers are on-hand, along with loc­al Vi­et­nam vet­er­ans to of­fer an in­sight­ful and in­ter­act­ive pro­gram to en­hance un­der­stand­ing of this peri­od in our coun­try’s his­tory.
