Actual Value Initiative and you
The South Kensington Community Partners will present a “Community Conversation” regarding the city’s Actual Value Initiative (AVI) on Thursday, July 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Concilio, 705 N. Franklin St., between Fairmount Avenue and Brown Street.
Special guests include Tom Ferrick and Neil Budde; refreshments will be served.
Topics up for discussion are: how the city’s Actual Value Initiative and Homestead Exemption will affect the property taxes paid by neighborhood homeowners in South/Old Kensington, Ludlow, and parts of Northern Liberties, Norris Square and East/West Poplar; changes to Voter ID law, and upcoming (Fall 2012) Advisory Committee elections. ••
Northeast Catholic reunion
Northeast Catholic Alumni Association will hold its 16th annual Falcons Fun in the Sun reunion for all alumni on Saturday, August 4.
It will be held at Lighthouse Pointe, Wildwood N.J. from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Price is $25 per person, in advance, which includes draft beer, soda, wine, a buffet and music by the Buddy Starling Band.

St. Adalbert bazaar
St. Adalbert Parish’s summer bazaar will be held Thursday through Saturday, August 2 through August 4, beginning at 6 p.m. each night on the parish grounds - 2645 E. Allegheny Ave.
Treat yourself to some sweets, browse the flea market, enjoy homemade Polish food, and dance and enjoy the live entertainment, including Polish American String Band on Thursday, a polka trio band on Friday and continental Polish music Saturday. ••
LSH seeks art teacher

Summer basketball league
The Hancock Recreation Center will be hosting its annual summer basketball league. Children ages 13 and under and those 14 to 16 years old may participate.
The league fee will be $100 per team, of which $50 will be refunded if your team does not forfeit any games. Official league basketball shirts and a coach shirt will be provided for each team member. Each team will pay its own referee’s fee.

Sean Daily sports tournament
The Port Richmond Tigers will sponsor the 24th annual Sean Daily memorial sports tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 27, 28 and 29.
Featured events will include men’s and women’s softball, basketball, soccer (all ages) and women’s volleyball. All events will take place at Cohox Playground (Cedar and Ann streets).

St. Anne’s produce vouchers
St. Anne’s Senior Center will be distributing produce vouchers through the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. You will receive four $5 vouchers that will be valid until Nov. 30, 2012.
Active center members can pick up vouchers through July 20 from 10 a.m. until noon. Non-members can receive vouchers on July 18 from 2 to 4 p.m..
You must be 60 years old by December 31, 2012 (show proof of age), live in Philadelphia with proof of address, and meet certain income requirements.
Vouchers are available while supplies last; you can only receive vouchers once per year. For more information call the senior center (located at 2607 E. Cumberland St.) at 215-426-9799. ••
Justice for Wayne walk
At 10 a.m. on July 28, there will be a march in memory of Wayne Elliss. He was shot and killed while on his way home on July 28, 2002, at Belgrade Street and Frankford Avenue.
In the 10 years since his death the family claims they have no answers. The march hopes to break the silence. They seek 100 or more people to join in the walk. Everyone is welcome. The walk will begin at Club Deco on Front and Spring Garden streets and head to Frankford Avenue at Belgrade Street.
It costs $20 per person to participate in the walk and you will receive a bracelet and tee shirt. There will be a block party and beef-and-beer afterwards starting at 3 p.m., plus a DJ. It will cost $30 to attend the beef-and-beer if you don’t participate in the memorial walk. All money raised will be donated to the AOH Fishtown Division 51.

PAL selling Phillies tickets
The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia and the Junior Baseball Federation celebrate their 64th year of partnership in raising funds to support inner-city youth by making Phillies tickets available for purchase.
Forty percent of each ticket purchase is donated back to PAL. Tickets can be purchased at: PAL Headquarters, 2524 E. Clearfield St.

Join St. Anne’s choir
The music program at St. Anne’s Church, located at 2328 E. Lehigh Ave., is looking for choral singers to join the church’s festival choir. Margaret “Peg” McCook sports tournament
The tournament will be held July 20, 21, and 22 at Cione Playground at Lehigh and Aramingo avenues and at Cohox Playground at Cedar and Cambria streets. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society as well as scholarships for students entering high school.
In the tournament, there will be: men’s and women’s softball, basketball and soccer for $125; youth soccer for $100; youth basketball for $75, horseshoes for $25 per thrower, plus a 5K run on July 21 for $25.
