Robbery victim resists, shot by gunman

A would-be robber shot a man in the stomach on a Frankford street last Wednesday after the victim refused to surrender his cash, police say.

The victim, identified only as a man in his 50s, told police he was walking home on the 1200 block of Bridge St. at about 8 p.m. when an unknown man approached him and demanded his money at gunpoint. The man refused, so the robber shot him once in the stomach, according to police.

The victim was unable to supply a description of the assailant. Paramedics rushed the critically wounded man to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

A police spokeswoman did not have information on his latest condition. ••
