Bear deserves a chance

Bear is a 5-year-old male mastiff/terrier mix who was surrendered because his owner took a new job and did not have enough time for him.

The dog was dirty, had irritated skin on his back and pressure sores. He was not well-cared for at his last home. He is a fearful and nervous boy, from loud cars to lots of people, but is gaining confidence while outside in the yard at Philadelphia’s Animal Care and Control, at 111 W. Hunting Park Ave.

Bear wags his tail when he is pet. He has not shown any interest in playing with toys, taking treats or hanging out with cats or other dogs.

Because of his fear, all members of the family must meet him before his adoption can be approved. Bear needs time to adjust, and he will bloom into a wonderful happy boy.

Adoption hours are weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bear’s tag number is A14953628. ••
