Woman fatally struck crossing Boulevard


The city med­ic­al ex­am­iner’s of­fice has iden­ti­fied the wo­man who was struck by a car and killed on Fri­day as she at­temp­ted to walk across Roosevelt Boulevard.

Pamela Wells, of the 8900 block of Frank­ford Ave., died of blunt im­pact trauma, said Jeff Mor­an, a De­part­ment of Pub­lic Health spokes­man. The death was ruled ac­ci­dent­al. Her age was not dis­closed.

The crash oc­curred just after 6 a.m. at the in­ter­sec­tion of Welsh Road. Wells was cross­ing the Boulevard east­bound when a 1991 Honda Civic struck her in the north­bound in­ner lanes, said Of­ficer Jill­ian Rus­sell, a Phil­adelphia po­lice spokes­wo­man.

The vic­tim was pro­nounced dead at the scene at 6:05 a.m. The driver, who was iden­ti­fied by po­lice only as a male, re­mained at the scene and has not been charged crim­in­ally. ••
