Generosity is in season for Northeast businesses

Several Mayfair businesses are involved in charitable activities this holiday season.

Avenue Chiropractic, at 6233 Frankford Ave., is a drop-off site for the Toys for Tots program.

The chiropractic office’s next-door neighbor, the Grey Lodge Pub, also is collecting toys. The bar is offering a free beer or non-alcoholic beverage to everyone who drops off a toy by Saturday.

Bellalisa Hair Studio, 3530 Cottman Ave., also is a Toys for Tots drop-off location.

Viriva Community Credit Union, 7346 Frankford Ave., will be collecting food for Philabundance and toys for St. Christopher Hospital for Children through Friday.

Chocolate lollipops are being sold for $1 at 3rd Fed Bank, 6633 Roosevelt Blvd. The proceeds go to Angels of Christmas Inc., which provides gifts for needy children.

The district offices of state Rep. Kevin Boyle are collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit local food banks. The offices are located at 7518 Frankford Ave. and 7801 Hasbrook Ave.

Once the holidays are over, the Mayfair Business Association will work with the Mayfair Civic Association and the Mayfair Community Development Corporation to organize a weekly farmers market, beginning in April.

The groups also will speak with Capt. John McCloskey, the new commander of the 15th Police District, about ways to keep the Shamrock Shuttle, a pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration, peaceful for neighbors. ••
