Come out to cheer vets on bus trip to D.C. memorials


The pub­lic is be­ing en­cour­aged to cheer for loc­al World War II vet­er­ans on Sunday, Sept. 9, as they travel to Wash­ing­ton, D.C., as part of a pro­gram sponsored by Hon­or Flight Phil­adelphia.

The bus will de­part Casino Deli, at 2425 Welsh Road, at 6 a.m. and re­turn about 10 p.m.

The group will vis­it Ar­ling­ton Na­tion­al Cemetery for a chan­ging of the guard and wreath-lay­ing ce­re­mony. Oth­er high­lights in­clude vis­its to me­mori­als ded­ic­ated to ser­vice wo­men, the Air Force, Ab­ra­ham Lin­coln, Iwo Jima and vet­er­ans of the Korean War, Vi­et­nam War and World War II.

After leav­ing D.C., the vets will be treated to din­ner and en­ter­tain­ment at a church/so­cial cen­ter in Broomall, Delaware County. The bus then will re­turn the vets to  the Casino Deli.

People are in­vited to wave a flag, bring a sign and cheer the vets as they de­part and re­turn home.
