Frankford man found beaten to death

A Frankford man died after police found him unconscious on a Kensington Street, the victim of an apparent street-corner beating early Saturday.

Officers were called to Emerald and Cambria streets at about 5:30 a.m. in response to a report of a person with a weapon. They found Roberto Perez, 41, of the 1600 block of Fillmore St., lying in the street unresponsive and with traumatic head injuries. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to one published report, witnesses told police that Perez was involved in an argument, during which someone beat him in the head with a crowbar. Perez’s Chevrolet Suburban was parked at the scene and had a broken window. Police have made no arrests and named no suspects. ••
