Take a Saturday SPIN in the park


Spe­cial People In North­east Inc.’s first Pos­sib­il­it­ies in the Park 5K will take place Sat­urday morn­ing at the in­dus­tri­al park sur­round­ing the agency’s cam­pus at 10501 Drum­mond Road.

People are wel­come to run, walk or roll to be­ne­fit SPIN’s ef­forts to provide dir­ect sup­port and edu­ca­tion­al and thera­peut­ic ser­vices to in­di­vidu­als with aut­ism and in­tel­lec­tu­al and de­vel­op­ment­al dis­ab­il­it­ies.

In ad­di­tion to the com­pet­it­ive 5K, guests can take part in a one-mile walk.

“All people seek ways to live life to the fullest,” said SPIN CEO Kath­leen Brown McHale. “For over forty years, SPIN has been re­cog­nized as a people-first or­gan­iz­a­tion sup­port­ing people of all abil­it­ies to live a life of pos­sib­il­it­ies. The Pos­sib­il­it­ies in the Park 5K will help nur­ture each per­son with­in our fa­cil­it­ies to de­vel­op and use their strengths in cre­at­ing a life of mean­ing, pur­pose and hap­pi­ness.”

The 5K run will start at 8 a.m. out­side SPIN’s en­trance. Walk­ers and rollers will be­gin at 8:30.

Af­ter­ward, there will be a fest­iv­al that will in­clude games, mu­sic and giveaways.

The cost for those pre-re­gis­ter­ing is $25, or $10 for chil­dren age 12 and un­der.

Day-of-event re­gis­tra­tion be­gins at 6:45 a.m. The cost is $30, or $15 for chil­dren age 12 and un­der.
