Pedestrian killed by hit-run driver

The driver of a car in­volved in a fatal hit-and-run in Ta­cony on Aug. 27 re­mains at large as Phil­adelphia po­lice try to identi­fy him.

In­vest­ig­at­ors are look­ing for the op­er­at­or of a black sedan, pos­sibly a Pon­tiac Grand Prix. They say that the driver might not have been aware that he struck a per­son early on Aug. 27 at Tor­res­dale and Dever­eaux av­en­ues.

Patrol of­ficers were called to the in­ter­sec­tion at 2:14 a.m. in re­sponse to a re­port of a large fight in the street. Dur­ing the mel­ee, the black car stuck a ped­es­tri­an. The car was then driv­en from the scene.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as Omar In­gram, 32, of the 800 block of Cor­inthi­an Ave., in Fair­mount. He was pro­nounced dead at 5:45 that morn­ing at Aria Health-Tor­res­dale, po­lice said.

Po­lice did not provide de­tails about the cause of the al­ter­ca­tion or oth­er pos­sible in­jur­ies.

The driver of the black car and wit­nesses are asked to call the ac­ci­dent in­vest­ig­a­tion di­vi­sion at 215-685-3180 or call 911. ••
