Northeast bank robber sought

A man who robbed four banks in the North­east and Chel­ten­ham Town­ship last year struck again loc­ally on Aug. 27 and re­mains at large, au­thor­it­ies say.

Phil­adelphia po­lice re­leased sur­veil­lance pho­tos of the rob­ber last week.

On Aug. 27 at 10:36 a.m., he al­legedly entered the Vist Bank branch at 8000 Ver­ree Road and presen­ted a de­mand note to a tell­er. The man took $12,499 from tell­er draw­ers and the vault be­fore flee­ing north on Ver­ree, then west on Stan­wood Street, po­lice say.

He is de­scribed as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds. He has a dark com­plex­ion, freckles or pock marks on his face and large eyes. He wore a Phil­lies cap and dark gray but­ton-down shirt.

The same man may have robbed the Sov­er­eign Bank at 500 Cent­ral Ave. in Chel­ten­ham on Nov. 12; the Bank of Amer­ica at 1000 Cottman Ave. on Nov. 30; the Bank of Amer­ica at 6425 Rising Sun Ave. on Dec. 1; and the Ver­ree Road Vist Bank on Dec. 2.
