Frankford High is ringing with success

The Frank­ford High School base­ball team re­ceived their cham­pi­on­ship rings last week dur­ing a ce­re­mony held at the Ox­ford Ave. school. The Pi­on­eers claimed the Pub­lic League title after de­feat­ing Thomas Edis­on High School, 5-4, on June 2 at Rich­ie Ash­burn Field in South Phil­adelphia. The tri­umph was Frank­ford’s first Pub­lic League cham­pi­on­ship crown since 2008 and 16th in the pro­gram’s his­tory.

The Pi­on­eers fin­ished 19-6 over­all, outscor­ing op­pon­ents by 118 runs, in­clud­ing four shutouts. They rode an 11-game win­ning streak throughout the second half of the sea­son en route to their Pub­lic League title.
