Area civic groups set meetings

Capt. De­borah Kelly, com­mand­er of the 8th Po­lice Dis­trict, in­vites the pub­lic to at­tend her next town hall meet­ing on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 7 p.m., at 8th dis­trict headquar­ters, Academy and Red Li­on roads. Res­id­ents of the dis­trict will be able to dis­cuss pu­bic safety is­sues with the cap­tain.

In the past, the 8th dis­trict Town Hall meet­ings were held on the first Wed­nes­day each month. But for the fu­ture, they will be sched­uled on a month-to-month basis. Vis­it the cal­en­dar page on www.phil­ap­ for a full sched­ule of events in the dis­trict.

The Up­per Holmes­burg Civic As­so­ci­ation will hold its next gen­er­al meet­ing on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., at St. Domin­ic’s Mari­an Hall, 8532 Frank­ford Ave. The meet­ing is open to the pub­lic and free to at­tend. Neigh­bor­hood zon­ing and oth­er loc­al is­sues will be dis­cussed.

On Wed­nes­day, Sept. 28, the Holme Circle Civic As­so­ci­ation will hold its first meet­ing of the fall ses­sion at St. Jerome’s School hall, Stam­ford and Col­fax streets, at 7 p.m.

Top­ics will in­clude dis­cus­sion of the on­go­ing Holme Av­en­ue Bridge con­struc­tion pro­ject and the Welsh Road de­tour. All res­id­ents are in­vited to at­tend. ••
