Cut for the Cure is scheduled for Sunday

The 12th an­nu­al Cut for the Cure will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at New Im­age Hair Salon, at 2522 Welsh Road (at Roosevelt Boulevard) in the Tremont Shop­ping Cen­ter.

Own­er John Mc­Don­ald and his staff will give hair­cuts to men, wo­men and chil­dren for $15, with pro­ceeds go­ing to breast can­cer re­search at Fox Chase Can­cer Cen­ter, pro­state can­cer re­search at Johns Hop­kins Uni­versity in Bal­timore and the Vet­er­ans Com­fort House in West Phil­adelphia.

Mc­Don­ald is a pro­state can­cer sur­viv­or, and his late wife, Ginny, battled breast can­cer.

Cus­tom­ers can pay in cash or with a per­son­al check or cred­it card.

The day’s activ­it­ies will in­clude in­di­vidu­al and fam­ily por­traits for $15. Food, hats and T-shirts will be for sale, and there will be raffles for a bas­ket of cheer and a hand-craf­ted Longaber­ger bas­ket.

In ad­di­tion, there will be a disc jockey, clas­sic cars, kar­ate demon­stra­tions and per­form­ances by a jump rope team and the Sounds of Liberty Barber­shop Quar­tet.

Last year’s be­ne­fit raised al­most $14,000.
