Holmesburg woman shot in attempted carjacking

A Holmesburg woman is expected to recover from a gunshot wound she suffered when a man tried to carjack her on Friday morning, police said.

The 26-year-old victim had just entered her car at 7 a.m. on the 7400 block of Jackson St. when a strange man opened the passenger-side door and tried to enter the car, said a police spokeswoman. The victim stepped on the accelerator and drove away. But as she did, the man shot her in the hip.
