Holmesburg woman shot in attempted carjacking

A Holmes­burg wo­man is ex­pec­ted to re­cov­er from a gun­shot wound she suffered when a man tried to car­jack her on Fri­day morn­ing, po­lice said.

The 26-year-old vic­tim had just entered her car at 7 a.m. on the 7400 block of Jack­son St. when a strange man opened the pas­sen­ger-side door and tried to enter the car, said a po­lice spokes­wo­man. The vic­tim stepped on the ac­cel­er­at­or and drove away. But as she did, the man shot her in the hip.

The wo­man drove to Cottman and Frank­ford av­en­ues, where para­med­ics found her and took her to Aria Health-Tor­res­dale. She is lis­ted in stable con­di­tion.

Po­lice an­nounced an ar­rest in the case on Tues­day. Jef­frey Ran­dall, 21, of the 1300 block of E. Ly­coming St., has been charged with ag­grav­ated as­sault with a hand­gun, rob­bery and re­lated of­fenses. His sus­pec­ted motive was rob­bery. ••
