Kmart burglar sought

Philadelphia police are trying to identify a sneaky burglar who slipped into a Northwood Kmart store during normal business hours and hid until after closing time, when he made off with merchandise worth about $10,000.

The burglar wasn’t savvy enough to avoid the lens of a surveillance camera, however. A video released by police on Sunday shows a clear picture of his face.

He is described as black, 5-feet-11 and about 30 years of age. He had a goatee and wore a dark shirt with white horizontal stripes, along with dark pants.

The heist occurred Friday at about 12:30 a.m. at the Kmart at 900 Orthodox St. After hiding out in the store until after closing time, the man disabled an alarm, police said.

He took game systems, laptop computers and TVs, and fled in an unknown direction.
