Members of the Greater Bustleton Civic League will discuss neighborhood zoning issues and vote on bylaws changes when they meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Temple Beth Ami, 9201 Old Bustleton Ave.
One of the changes that will be voted on is adjusting the league’s membership year and fiscal year to run concurrently from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Another is wording describing the league’s goals.
The third is a change in who is eligible to vote. Currently, Bustleton residents can join the organization, pay dues and vote, all in the same night. The change, if approved, would limit voting eligibility to those who were paid members as of the previous meeting.
The civic league’s sessions usually are conducted on the fourth Wednesday of the month, but the November date is earlier because the fourth Wednesday is the day before Thanksgiving.
Similarly, the December meeting will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, because the third Wednesday falls during Hanukkah and the fourth week falls in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
John McKeever, the league’s president, said the January session will be held on the first floor of the new building of the American Heritage Federal Credit Union on Red Lion Road. The league previously had met at American Heritage but had to move its sessions to Temple Beth Ami more than a year ago when renovations started at the credit union.
The league’s 2012 meeting schedule until members break for summer is: Jan. 25, Feb. 22, March 21, April 25, May 23 and June 20. ••
