Teenager tied up during home invasion

A teenager was tied up during a home invasion Monday morning on the 5300 block of Oakland St. in Frankford.

Officer Christine O’Brien, a police spokeswoman, said a 13-year-old boy was home alone at 7:51 a.m. when two men entered the house and one pointed a black handgun at him. The boy sat in a chair and was bound with an orange extension cord.

The men looked through the house and took a few thousand dollars from an empty water jug and a diamond ring, O’Brien said.

The boy’s parents came home a short time later, untied the boy and called police, she said.

The victim’s description of the robbers was limited. One man was black; the other, white. Both were wearing black clothing and black masks. The black robber was about 6 feet 2 inches tall, and the white robber was about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia police at 215.686.TIPS (8477). ••
