One of our fa­vor­ite presenters, Rick Spect­or, of Movie­house Pro­duc­tions, will get us ready for the hol­i­days with a slide show of nos­tal­gic im­ages from Phil­adelphia.  He is one of our fa­vor­ites.  Don’t miss this.  Ad­mis­sion is free. Fishtown Neigh­bors As­so­ci­ation is of­fer­ing a sub­sid­ized First Aid/CPR class on Nov. 12, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fishtown Rec Cen­ter (1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave).

The cer­ti­fic­a­tion will cov­er CPR, First Aid and AED (vaild for two years after course is com­pleted). Per­fect for par­ents, babysit­ters and out­door en­thu­si­asts.

Re­gis­tra­tion is lim­ited. The cost of the class is $90 – but FNA will sub­sid­ize 50 per­cent, mak­ing your cost only $45! This will be pay­able by cash or check, made pay­able to the FNA.

The Gir­ard Co­ali­tion will of­fer a pro­pos­al for a side­walk-seat­ing or­din­ance for res­taur­ants along Gir­ard Av­en­ue on Tues., Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. The meet­ing will be held at the Fishtown Rec Cen­ter, 1202 E. Mont­gomery Ave.  All res­id­ents of Fishtown are eli­gible to vote.  Please bring proof of res­id­ence or busi­ness own­er­ship in the form of a driver’s li­cense or a photo ID and a lease, util­ity bill, or re­cent piece of mail ad­dressed to your home or busi­ness.••


The Saint Lauren­ti­us Ladies Guild is spon­sor­ing a day in fab­ulous New York City. The trip will be on Sat­urday, Nov. 12 and will in­clude tick­ets to see the world fam­ous Rock­ets in a new Re­vue at Ra­dio City Mu­sic Hall (1 p.m. show). Cel­eb­rate fas­cin­at­ing river­front find­ings. A free pub­lic event, per­fect for the en­tire fam­ily. Ex­per­i­ence the Phil­adelphia river­wards’ his­tory with treas­ures from the past through en­ga­ging stor­ies, video, pho­tos and ac­tu­al ar­ti­facts from the digs. Sus­tain­able 19125 is part­ner­ing with the En­ergy Co­ordin­at­ing Agency (ECA) to provide free rain bar­rel edu­ca­tion, dis­tri­bu­tion, and in­stall­a­tion.

Email Ar­i­el at Adiliberto@nk­cdc.org to sign-up for a free rain bar­rel work­shop.  At the work­shop you will learn about rain bar­rels and storm wa­ter man­age­ment dur­ing an hour-long present­a­tion.

St. John Can­ti­us Church at 4435 E. Al­mond St. will be host­ing its 30th An­nu­al Christ­mas Bazaar on Fri­day, Nov. 11 and Sat. Nov. 12.

The two day event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Fri­day and 4 to 9 p.m. on Sat­urday and will in­clude everything from homemade Pol­ish del­ic­acies to toys and sport­ing goods, chil­dren’s games with prizes and more.••


St. Bartho­lomew Church, at Har­bison and Chel­ten­ham av­en­ues, will be host­ing its an­nu­al Penny Party event at noon on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The event will be held at McMa­hon Hall. En­trance fee is $3 and the cost in­cludes bever­age and cake.
