8th PDAC hosts a big barbecue for war veterans

Members of the 8th Police District Advisory Council recently visited the Delaware Valley Veterans Home on Southampton Road to honor the vets’ service to the United States by sponsoring a barbecue for them.

PDAC chairman Harry Sonntag thanked the vets for their service, saying, “Your service to our country and every citizen who lives in it will never be forgotten. We hope that this small token of appreciation by our members and volunteers from the community reminds you all that there are many people who love you, respect you and appreciate the sacrifices you have made for us.”

Also on hand to volunteer their services were local members of the Patriot Guard Riders, a diverse national group of motorcycle enthusiasts who support U.S. military veterans.

Members of the 8th PDAC led by recording secretary Marge Philippi performed “Krystal Bells” music to entertain residents of the veterans home before the group capped off the afternoon with a bingo game in the home’s community room. Winners received coupons redeemable at the home’s Canteen store. ••
