Fire damages Frankford homes

Flames in­side a Frank­ford row­house caused heavy prop­erty dam­age but no in­jur­ies on Sat­urday af­ter­noon, ac­cord­ing to the Phil­adelphia Fire De­part­ment.

Fire­fight­ers were called to the 5300 block of Charles St. at 1:03 p.m., said Capt. Jef­frey Thompson, and found heavy flames on the second floor of the two-story dwell­ing. They also were told that chil­dren might be trapped on the second floor.

The re­spond­ing com­pan­ies entered the prop­erty and searched for vic­tims while con­tinu­ing to battle the blaze from the in­teri­or. But no res­cues were ne­ces­sary, Thompson said.

The flames were de­clared un­der con­trol at 1:22 p.m. A cause of the fire re­mains un­der in­vest­ig­a­tion. ••
