Robbery victim has no cash, gets stabbed

A 22-year-old man suffered a stab wound of the abdomen on Friday after four teenagers tried to rob him in a Burholme driveway, but he had no cash in his wallet.

The attack occurred at about 5:40 p.m. behind some homes on the 1300 block of Longshore Ave.

The victim reported that four unknown males followed him for several blocks as he walked from Cottman and Castor avenues to Longshore.

When he reached the driveway, the suspects accosted the victim and removed his wallet from his pants, but it was empty. The suspects returned the wallet to its owner before one of the would-be robbers stabbed the victim in the left side of his stomach with an unspecified object.

The suspects fled. The victim walked to the Wawa store at Castor and Tyson avenues, where employees called police and paramedics who took him to Aria Health-Torresdale for treatment. Police have not released the identity of the victim or his medical condition. ••
