Boulevard crash kills driver, passenger

Two men were killed Saturday following a one-vehicle accident on Roosevelt Boulevard near Holme Avenue.

According to the police department’s accident investigation division, a 1998 Buick Regal was traveling south on the Boulevard at a high rate of speed at about 12:35 a.m. when the driver lost control and hit a light standard.

The driver died at the scene. He was identified as Rasheed Balknight, 22, of the 2200 block of Yelland St. in Tioga. The passenger, a 22-year-old man, died later that night at 8:30 at Aria Health-Torresdale Campus. Police have not released his name because his relatives had not been notified.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. ••
