Beautyworx makeover contest
The deadline is Saturday, Sept. 27, to enter the Work That Make-Over Challenge, sponsored by Beautyworx Salon & Day Spa, at 7242 Frankford Ave., in Mayfair.
Certified fitness trainers are allowed to enter up to three clients in the contest. The trainer must supply a head shot of himself or herself, along with full-length photos of the clients.
In addition, trainers must complete a brief essay on their clients and why they have nominated them.
Individuals should have a doctors permission to participate in the exercise and weight-loss program and give permission for their photos to be used on the Beautyworx Web site and in promotional material. The goal weight and size should be realistic and not cause undo stress or harm.
Beautyworx stylists will pick four contestants based on the essay and an inspirational story. The contest lasts for three months.
The winner will be chosen on attitude and change in physical appearance.
The winning client will receive a massage; facial and body treatment; pedicure; manicure; professional eyebrow shaping; hair cut, coloring and styling; spa and beauty products; a full day of pampering; a $100 gift card for new clothing; and a glamour photo shoot.
The winning personal trainer will receive a massage and publicity in advertisements and promotional material.
During the contest, Beautyworx owner Lois Burak will post comments at www.beauty-worx.com
Burak will offer diet and exercise tips, recipes, words of encouragement and mantras.
Burak said the inspiration for the contest was working out with trainer Tyrone White and seeing Dr. Mehmet Oz talk about health and dieting on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The businesswoman included the words "Work That" in the name of the contest based on a song by Mary J. Blige that is particularly uplifting and inspiring to her.
