Two dead and one wounded
in NE after weekend shootings
Gunfire claimed the lives of two men and wounded another on Northeast Philadelphia streets on Friday.
Police detectives suspect that a dispute over drugs prompted the first shooting at about 2:30 a.m. on the 8700 block of Glenloch Place, in the Liddonfield Homes public housing complex, according to Capt. James Clark, the homicide division commander.
Several assailants shot Barry Jacobs, 26, of the 8800 block of Torresdale Ave., fatally in the chest and head, Clark said. The suspects fled as Jacobs died at the scene.
Detectives identified three suspects and on Sunday arrested 18-year-old Alonzo Ellison, of the 4400 block of Tolbut St., in connection with the crime.
Police found Ellison at about 7:30 p.m. at a relatives home in the Liddonfield area and captured him after a foot chase.
He is charged with murder and related offenses.
Warrants have been issued for the arrests of two other suspects, both juvenile males.
At about noon on Friday, more gunfire erupted on the 4800 block of Tackawanna St., near the Whitehall Commons public housing complex in Frankford.
Carnell Crosby, 18, of the 4900 block of Mulberry St., and another man were in front of a home when at least two males approached them and "began firing," Clark said.
Crosby suffered multiple wounds to the upper torso and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the name of the other victim, who is in his teens and is expected to recover from his wounds, Clark said.
The motive for the shooting is unknown. No suspects have been named.
