Wissinoming man charged
in May shootout

Detectives from the Federal Marshal’s Task Force last week arrested a Wissinoming man in connection with a May 9 North Philadelphia shootout during which two grade school children were wounded.
The June 26 capture of Garry Carnegie, 29, of the 4000 block of Comly St., came less than a week after authorities named him publicly as the suspected gunman.
Investigators believe that Carnegie and another person exchanged gunfire in a drug-related dispute on the 2400 block of Edgley St. that day. Stray bullets struck an 8-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, each in the right shoulder.
Both youngsters were treated at city hospitals and discharged within a day of the incident.
Police on June 20 named Carnegie as one of the participants in the shootout and appealed to the public for information about his whereabouts.
Carnegie is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons offenses, reckless endangerment and other crimes. Police have named no other suspects. ••
