Come out and celebrate
the Fourth with Lawncrest
The 93rd annual Lawncrest 4th of July Celebration will take place on Friday, with Saturday being the rain date.
The theme is 2 Neighborhoods = 1 Community (Crescentville + Lawndale = Lawncrest).
As always, a parade will kick off the festivities. It starts at 8 a.m. at Rising Sun Avenue and Martins Mill Road and finishes at the reviewing stand at the Lawncrest Recreation Center, at Rising Sun and Comly Street. Marchers will include entertainers, veterans clubs, church groups, community organizations, sports mascots, floats and St. William Scout units.
As part of the parade, children ages 7 to 14 are invited to decorate their bicycles. The owners of the four best-dressed bikes will receive new bicycles, courtesy of Lawncrest Town Watch and the organizing committee.
At the end of the parade, there will be a ceremony at the flagpole on the recreation center grounds.
A baby parade will start at 1 p.m. at Rising Sun and Robbins avenues and travel to the recreation center. All participants will receive a certificate and goody bag.
The bulk of the activities will occur at the recreation center. More than 40 vendors are expected at a flea market from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Latin Cruisers Car Show will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A disc jockey will play music from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
T-shirts will be for sale, and there will be a food court, Moonbounce, bingo, face painting, raffles, a Chinese auction, a slide, a duck pond, a ring toss and sand art.
At sunset, the celebration will end with a fireworks display.
