Benefit to aid
Northeast girl
A benefit is set for Friday for a 6-year-old Northeast girl who has various medical conditions.
Madison Thomas has Russell-Silver Syndrome, a growth disorder. The youngster weighs 30 pounds and takes hormone shots and has a feeding tube to help her grow. Her extremities are different lengths.
The girl also has Von Willebrand disease, a bleeding disorder. She experiences hypoglycemia (a low concentration of sugar in the blood) and hyperglycemia (a high concentration of sugar in the blood).
The benefit will run from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Fran Lee Caterers, at 4556 Almond St. in Bridesburg.
Tickets cost $30 cash and are available at the door. The cost includes open bar, buffet, disc jockey, karaoke and door prizes. There will also be a 50-50 drawing and raffles.
Raffle prizes include Philadelphia Eagles, iPod and Frito-Lay baskets, an autographed Flyers puck and tickets to Eastern State Penitentiary, Sesame Place, Please Touch Museum and a Philadelphia Soul game.
Proceeds will enable Madison and her mom, Christine, to attend a conference in July for people with Russell-Silver syndrome. There, the girl will meet with specialists and other children with the disease.
Donations can also be sent to Madison Thomas, 2762 Clayton St., Philadelphia, PA 19152.
