Search continues for thieves
at Franklin Mills mall

Thieves lurking in the Franklin Mills mall stole a couple’s $4,900 income tax refund last month. With the crooks still at large, police are seeking the public’s help in identifying them.
The crime occurred at about 3:20 p.m. on May 3 at Jump, a store inside the vast outlet mall. The female victim had just cashed her refund check and placed the money in her purse, which she hung on the arm of a baby stroller as she shopped with her husband.
The suspected thieves, a black male and black female in their late 30s or early 40s, entered the store soon after.
When something in the store attracted the attention of the victims, the female suspect moved in an apparent attempt to block the view of a surveillance camera while the male suspect snatched the purse. Both thieves then fled the store.
Police further describe both suspects as having heavy builds. The woman wore a brown Muslim-style headdress. On Friday, police released to the news media images from surveillance cameras in the store.
