Suspect arrested after trying
to rob same business twice

An operator of a Mayfair check-cashing business captured a suspected burglar last week after the man allegedly set off the shop’s security alarm twice within five hours.
Christopher Levy, 25, of the 4600 block of Willbrock St., has been charged with two counts of burglary and related offenses in connection with the attempted heists.
The suspect initially tripped the alarm at about 1:30 a.m. on June 8, police said. Officers from the 15th district responded to the location and saw that a rear door to the property had been forced open. When the proprietor arrived, he found nothing missing from the shop.
After detectives conducted a standard investigation of the scene, the owner secured the property.
At about 6:15 the same morning, the owner received notification of a second alarm at the business. He returned to the scene, found the rear door open and called 911. He then spotted a man wearing a ski mask, gloves, tank top and shorts running from behind the store, police said.
The owner gave chase on foot and caught up to the suspect a short distance away on the 4500 block of Teesdale St.
Arriving police arrested Levy there. ••
