BSP names new publisher
Ketan Gandhi, a 22-year employee of Gannett Co. Inc., has been named publisher of Broad Street Publishing, publisher of the Northeast Times, Trend newspapers and the Star and Home News.
Gandhi most recently was president and publisher of two Gannett newspapers in New Jersey, the Home News Tribune in East Brunswick and the Courier News in Bridgewater.
In making the announcement, Brian Tierney, chief executive officer of Philadelphia Media Holdings, the parent company of BSP, noted that during Gandhis tenure the newspapers increased readership and developed several new Web sites that attracted non-newspaper readers and proved beneficial to advertisers.
"I look forward to working with him to develop new ways to make our products even stronger and more relevant for our readers and advertisers," Tierney said.
During his Gannett career, Gandhi held several other positions, including vice president of finance, group controller and director of online content for the Asbury Park Press and Home News Tribune. His work in finance also earned him awards of recognition from Gannett.
"My goal is to provide products with high readership and consistent frequency in our communities a strategy that will show results for our consumers and advertisers," Gandhi said. "Im thrilled to be here and look forward to meeting and hearing from you."
He invites readers to call him at 856-779-3805 or send e-mail to kgandhi@phillynews.com
Gandhi succeeds George Troyano, who was publisher of BSP for two years. Troyano accepted a position as president and chief operating officer of the Review Publishing Co., whose publications include the South Philadelphia Review and Philadelphia Weekly.
