Trash truck driver
sought in possible hit-and-run

Philadelphia police accident investigators are searching for the driver of a commercial trash truck that struck and killed a woman pedestrian in Frankford last Thursday.
The accident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. at Bustleton and Cheltenham avenues. The victim, Jacqueline Pierre-Louis, 58, of 1500 Cheltenham Ave., was on the southwest corner when the truck hit her as it turned right from eastbound Cheltenham to southbound Bustleton.
Police do not believe that the truck drove over a curb, said Sgt. Albert Gramlich of the accident investigation division. However, the sidewalk at the corner is level with the street to facilitate wheelchair access.
Pierre-Louis was pronounced dead at the scene with apparent head injuries. The truck continued on.
The driver is not wanted on a criminal warrant because investigators have not determined if he or she was aware that the pedestrian had been struck. The driver is wanted for questioning.
The truck was described as a rollback container trash truck with a red cab. It was hauling a blue trash container at the time of the accident.
