Bucks man linked
to robberies

A Bucks County man wanted in Philadelphia for robbing a couple of Northeast supermarkets last month, as well as two convenience stores last Nov. 20, was a bit more troublesome than detectives originally thought, authorities say.
After arresting Ryan Barrie, 23, of Newtown, Bucks County, on Friday, investigators ended up charging him with seven armed robberies in all.
The crimes occurred throughout the Northeast. In each case, the robber used the same basic method. He would indicate that he had a gun concealed up his sleeve and demand money from the cashier.
Surveillance cameras filmed several of the heists. Detectives identified Barrie as the alleged culprit through a tip they received soon after they released surveillance images to the news media.
Detectives arrested Barrie on April 4.
He is charged with robbing a 7-Eleven at 6622 Rising Sun Ave. on March 22; a Pathmark at 8716 Frankford Ave. on March 15; a Shop Rite at 6725 Frankford Ave. on March 14; a Shell station at 9801 Bustleton Ave. on Feb. 12; the China Gate restaurant at 3822 Morrell Ave. on Jan. 23; and two Wawas, at 8000 Roosevelt Blvd. and 10550 Knights Road, on Nov. 20.
There were no injuries reported. In most of the crimes, Barrie allegedly made off with between $100 and $600. One time, he got $1,235, but in two instances, he fled with nothing.
He remains in jail pending an April 11 preliminary hearing. ••
