Shamrock shuttle is big topic
of 15th PDAC’s open forum

Capt. Frank Bachmayer, commander of the 15th Police District, hosted an open forum last week following the 15th Police District Advisory Council meeting.
Though the meeting was geared toward members of the Mayfair Civic Association, future meetings will include all residents of the 15th district. The district’s boundaries are the south side of Rhawn Street to the Frankford Creek and from the Delaware River to the northbound side of Roosevelt Boulevard.
One neighborhood concern raised among the handful of residents present was the annual shamrock shuttle, where a bus runs up and down Frankford Avenue giving folks a lift from bar to bar in celebration of St. Patrick’s day on three Saturdays this month – March 1, March 8 and March 15.
Bachmayer assured residents that he’s already talked to participating bar owners to let them know that he will be out there. Any problems, "I’m not playing with them. I’ll shut them down," he promised.
Bachmayer also addressed concerns about cars parked in the common driveway, as well as cars parked in the boxed areas on corners obstructing the view of drivers and forcing school children to walk around cars to cross the street.
While Bachmayer’s forums aren’t new — he previously held them on the last Thursday of the month at district headquarters — the date and time are new. They’ll be held the last Monday of each month. The next forum will be held at 8 p.m., Monday, March 31, at the John Perzel Community Center, 2990 St. Vincent St., following the 15th PDAC meeting. ••
