Student allegedly sexually
assaulted at Samuel Fels

Two students and a substitute teacher were banned from Samuel K. Fels High School last week after the two male teens allegedly sexually assaulted a female student inside a classroom.
At about 1 p.m. on Feb. 26, the 14-year-old victim, who is in ninth grade, reported to school officials that the two boys, both age 15, grabbed her as she was on her way to lunch, pulled her into a closet inside a classroom and assaulted her.
Eventually, they let her free, she claimed.
The girl identified her alleged attackers, who were located immediately by school police.
Both are in the ninth grade.
School officials notified Philadelphia police, who detained and questioned the suspects.
Neither has been charged criminally as detectives continue to investigate the case, according to Capt. John Darby of the special victims unit.
According to a statement prepared by the School District of Philadelphia, the boys claimed that any sexual activity was consensual among them and the girl.
Nonetheless, the boys were suspended for five days by the school district, which has begun the process to expel them to a disciplinary school.
School officials and Philadelphia police have not released the names of the youths.
Police have interviewed numerous witnesses, including other students and a substitute teacher assigned to the classroom where the assault allegedly occurred.
The school district has barred the teacher from working in the city’s public schools pending the outcome of a school police investigation. ••
