‘Scarf Bandit’ tied
to Northeast bank robberies?

The FBI believes that a man who robbed a Bensalem bank last week might be responsible for earlier heists at two Northeast locations.
The individual, known as the "Scarf Bandit," robbed a Citizens Bank in Bensalem on Friday at 5:26 p.m. After entering the bank, he spoke briefly to an employee before pulling out a black handgun and instructing a teller to place an undisclosed amount of cash into a bag.
The suspect is black, in his 20s, about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim build and a dark complexion. He was wearing a dark leather jacket, a light-colored buttoned shirt with a white T-shirt underneath and a black New York Yankees baseball cap.
Based on surveillance photos, the FBI thinks he may have robbed the Sun East Federal Credit Union, at 9212 Frankford Ave., on Dec. 26 and the Earthstar Bank, at 8910 Frankford Ave., on Jan. 3.
The Delaware Valley Financial Security Officers Group is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for these robberies.
