Lawncrest is looking
for volunteers
The Lawncrest Community Association held its annual Christmas party last week and didnt tackle too many meaty issues.
The LCA held a moment of silence for neighborhood resident Mark Clark, who died recently.
Ken Hyers, president of Lawncrest Town Watch, urged residents to turn on the outdoor lights in the back of their houses at night to help stop a rash of recent break-ins. Hyers is also looking for Town Watch volunteers. Call 215-745-1200.
The Lawncrest 4th of July Committee is looking for volunteers, too. Call 215-651-8470.
At the most recent 2nd Police District Advisory Council meeting, residents were encouraged to visit any firehouse to obtain a free smoke detector. Firefighters will install the device.
Also, the curfew center at Max Myers Playground is looking for volunteers to work Thursday through Sunday nights. Call 215-683-5770.
The Friends of Tacony Creek Park will meet again on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m., at the Salvation Army Citadel, at Rising Sun Avenue and Van Kirk Street.
Lawncrest Community Association will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m., at St. William parish hall, at Argyle and Robbins streets.
