Second place
for team LaBelle

Who knew that the William Penn’s curse extends not only to sports groups but singing groups, as well?
Patti LaBelle and her 20 choir members, including Tim Bolognone of Juniata, and Barbara Kellam of Frankford were favored to take the NBC Clash of the Choirs crown but were upset by former 98 Degrees Nick Lachey and his choir from Cincinnati.
The reality show, produced by the same group that brings you Dancing With the Stars, promised $250,000 to the winner’s charity — Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Team LaBelle, however, still gets to bring back $50,000 for the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania’s With Our Voices Program. ••
