Police seek fake
flower man
Philadelphia police think that images from a recently acquired surveillance video will help them solve a September home invasion in which the assailant posed as a flower delivery man.
The video shows the suspect purchasing an arrangement at Bee Flowers, 1501 E. Hunting Park Ave., shortly before the Sept. 10 robbery attempt.
At about 12:30 p.m. that day, the suspect knocked on the door of a home on the 1100 block of Levick St. and announced that he had flowers addressed for "Yvonne."
Although no one by that name lived there, the 52-year-old female resident invited the man inside after he asked for a drink of water.
Once in the home, the man allegedly pulled a gun and demanded money from the woman. The victim fought back, however, prompting the invader to flee empty-handed.
Detectives tracked down the flower shop from a logo on the arrangement that the suspect left at the scene.
The suspect is Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has dark hair and was clean-shaven. He wore a light colored shirt, tan pants and tan boots.
