Four-car crash on the
Ben Franklin Bridge claims two

A Northeast Philadelphia octogenarian and her sister were killed in a four-car crash on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on Thanksgiving night.
The accident occurred at 10:40 p.m. in the eastbound lanes on the Pennsylvania side of the bridge, said Danelle Hunter, a spokeswoman for the Delaware Valley Port Authority. Investigators are still investigating the cause of the crash, but they believe that a car occupied by three women collided with another vehicle, sparking a chain-reaction crash.
Two of the women, an 80-year-old from Philadelphia and an 85-year-old from Cherry Hill, died as a result of injuries they suffered in the crash, according to Hunter.
Seven others were injured and treated at either Hahnemann University Hospital or Cooper Medical Center.
The DRPA spokeswoman on Monday said she did not know the identities of the victims or specific information about their injuries.
One published report identified the fatalities as Hana S. Kramer, 80, of Rhawnhurst, and Ruth Diamond, 85, of Cherry Hill. The third woman in the sisters’ vehicle is among the injured survivors, Hunter said.
As a result of the accident, the bridge was closed to traffic until 11:30 p.m. The eastbound lanes remained closed until 1:45 a.m. ••
