The 32nd annual Thanksgiving
parade is coming to Mayfair
The 32nd annual Mayfair-Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18.
The parade, which starts at 1 p.m., will have a Hawaii theme. Its route will travel along Frankford Avenue from Welsh Road to Knorr Street.
The Delta Epsilon Beta sorority chapters from Delaware Valley College and Bloomsburg University will sell leis for $1 each to raise money for the Optimist Club of Philadelphias youth and community service projects.
A portion of the money will also go to Optimist Club affiliates in California, where hundreds of thousands of homeowners have been forced to vacate their properties because of massive brush fires.
The Classy Clowns will be collecting donations for next years celebration.
Businesses interested in advertising can call parade director Gary Cozens at 215-745-8102.
Groups interested in marching are asked to call the parade office at 215-335-1055 by Friday. High school students who need to complete community-service time can also call the parade office. They will carry banners and receive a T-shirt.
