. . . While suspect in another
bank heist is nabbed in Mayfair

An alleged bank robber’s escape from a police chase came to a crashing halt on Wednesday afternoon when the suspect’s car collided with a police car in the Northeast.
The pursuit began in Bucks County shortly after a York, Pa., man robbed the Yardville National Bank in Falls Township at about 5 p.m., said Officer Tanya Little, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.
Bensalem Township police spotted the suspect’s vehicle, a green Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Interstate 95 and followed it into the city.
After leaving the highway at an undisclosed location, the suspect led city police to Cottman and Brous avenues in Mayfair, where his car stuck a Philadelphia K-9 Unit vehicle, Little said.
The alleged robber, Joseph Leininger, 31, of the 500 block of Peakview Road in York, sustained undisclosed injuries and was taken to Frankford Hospital-Torresdale.
Leininger also was arrested and charged locally with aggravated assault and related crimes. Police anticipate that he will be charged federally with the bank heist, in which he reportedly used a demand note.
No other injuries were reported. ••
