Fall Ball tops Normandy
civic group plans
The Normandy Civic Association discussed its fall fund-raising event and some other matters at its Sept. 11 meeting.
The groups Fall Ball will take place Friday, Oct. 26, from 8 p.m. to midnight, at Cannstatters, located at 9130 Academy Road.
Tickets are $35, and proceeds from the basket option will go toward the family of an 11-year-old neighborhood girl who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer.
Tickets are limited, so the group is urging guests to get them in advance by calling civic association president John Wisniewski at 215-673-9512.
Community concerns discussed at the meeting included poor upkeep at several houses in the area. The group wants to forward a list of addresses to the Community Life Improvement Program (CLIP) so that workers can possibly clean them up.
"We dont want any blight to start the downfall here," said Wisniewski.
Next month, the group will vote on a zoning matter involving a resident at 2900 Normandy Drive who wants to expand a detached garage on his property so that he can park his tractor-trailer there.
The group will also discuss forming a walkers club for residents and hopes to get an update on crime in the community at its next meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Norcom Community Center, 10980 Norcom Road.
