It’s a first at Judge:
A female principal

Father Judge High School’s president, the Rev. Joseph Campellone, announced yesterday that Kathleen Herpich will join the boys school as its 11th principal — the first woman to serve in that position.
Herpich replaces Joseph DeAngelis, who held the post for six years. DeAngelis, who tendered his resignation in June, remains at the school as a guidance counselor.
Herpich, who received her doctorate in education from Seton Hall University, brings experience in teaching both in public and parochial schools.
A speaker at U.S. Department of Education conferences, Herpich is published in the National Association of Secondary School Principals and National Catholic Educational Association.
She is a member of the Association for Curriculum Development (ASCD), the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), the National Council of Teachers of Math (NCTM) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
She comes to Judge from St. Peter the Apostle High School in New Brunswick, N.J. Herpich held the position for five years and served there previously as vice principal and director of curriculum for three years.
"Dr. Herpich believes in Catholic education and is a strong advocate of teaching Catholic ethics and values," Father Judge High School said in a statement.
"She is a strong person with a strong work ethic. Some people use the term ‘tough cookie’ or a ‘get the job done personality’; however she simply likes to be known as a person who loves educating students the right way." ••
