Police seek ‘person of interest’
in fatal stabbing

Philadelphia police are searching for a "person of interest" in last week’s stabbing death of a Lower Northeast woman that left her 2-year-old son without a mother.
The attack occurred on Aug. 29 at the Hill Creek public housing development.
Police responded to an apartment on the 500 block of W. Hill Creek Drive just after 7:30 a.m. and found the injured woman, Ines Vasquez-Rodriguez, 28, lying on the floor, said Officer Beth DiDonato, a police spokeswoman. She had a single puncture wound of the chest.
Investigators aren’t sure of the type of weapon used. None has been recovered.
Vasquez-Rodriguez lived in the apartment. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene at 7:55 a.m.
The woman’s son reportedly was home at the time. Her live-in fiancé was not there and is not considered a suspect, a police source said.
Investigators are looking for an unidentified man who they believe "frequented" the woman’s apartment. The victim may have known the man, who is wanted for questioning.
He is Hispanic and in his late 20s. He was seen wearing a blue baseball cap, blue T-shirt and blue pants, DiDonato said.
Investigators suspect a domestic dispute as a motive for the crime, a police source said.
