Local church and synagogue
to host 9/11 service

The public is invited to join Maternity BVM Roman Catholic Church and Temple Beth Ami on Tuesday, Sept. 11, to mark the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States.
The church and synagogue have held an interfaith prayer and remembrance service each Sept. 11 since 2002.
A year earlier, terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes, crashing two of them into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon and another into an empty field in western Pennsylvania. About 3,000 Americans died on that date.
The service will be led by the Rev. George Majoros, pastor at Maternity BVM, and Rabbi Moshe Goldman, of Temple Beth Ami.
The crowd will gather at 7 p.m. for prayers at BVM, located at 9220 Bustleton Ave.
Next, there will be a candlelight procession to Temple Beth Ami, at 9201 Old Bustleton Ave., where prayer will continue.
Afterward, refreshments will be served in the rear of the sanctuary.
Last year, a crowd of more than 500 people participated in the ceremony. This year’s event is expected to attract clergy, veterans, civic groups and elected officials.
