Town Watch has strong
showing in Millbrook
An overwhelming number of residents have showed interest in joining the Far Northeasts Chalfont Town Watch.
President Mike Bremser said at Thursdays meeting of the Millbrook Civic Association that more than 100 people have signed up for the group, which met on May 10.
He hopes that he gets a good commitment from all of the interested residents.
"We definitely need the help, but we cant have the same people every weekend or people are going to get burnt out and theyre going to stop," Bremser said.
The group meets at the Calvary Athletic Association at Chalfont Drive and Deerpath Lane.
In addition to Bremser, the groups board includes: Mort Palan, vice president; Alicia Cullen, secretary; Dave Kralle, treasurer; and Phil Consalvo, sergeant-at-arms.
The group will have general Town Watch meetings at least four times a year.
Members will patrol on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to midnight. They officially began patrolling on May 11 and still need volunteers for the month of June.

In other news from the May 24 meeting:
City Councilman Brian ONeill (R-10th dist.) spoke about the possible reinstatement of the police graffiti squads, which have not been in place for several years.
The officers investigate graffiti writers and monitor their operations through surveillance. Funds for the squads was allocated in the 2007-08 city budget, which becomes effective July 1.
"It makes a huge difference in the volume of graffiti they have to get off," ONeill said.
He expects the squads to become active by the end of the year.
The board will recess for the summer. It will delay elections until members return to session.
