Northeast woman faces
charges in fatal crash

A Bucks County man is dead, and a Northeast woman is facing charges of homicide by vehicle and drunken driving as a result of a two-car crash early Friday in Wissinoming.
The crash occurred at about 12:15 a.m. at Tacony and Van Kirk streets, according to Officer Yolanda Dawkins, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman.
Salahadeen Sanders, 31, of Yardley, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2003 BMW that he was driving collided with a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The BMW was traveling north on Tacony and turning left onto Van Kirk, while the Jeep was traveling southbound, Dawkins said.
Sanders’ car caught fire with the operator inside.
The other driver, Brandee Ruiz, 31, of the 6200 block of Mershon St., suffered critical injuries when her vehicle rolled and came to rest upright, Dawkins said. She was taken to Frankford Hospital-Torresdale for treatment and charged with numerous offenses. She was listed in fair condition as the Times went to press.
The charges include involuntary manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, driving while under the influence, homicide by vehicle while DUI and causing an accident involving death without a drivers’ license. ••
