Quality-of-life issues hot topic
at West Torresdale meeting
The West Torresdale Civic Association discussed several quality-of-life issues at its May 10 meeting.
One issue involved the proposed cleanup of Berea Street by inmates at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility on State Road.
The group is also looking into getting a property cleaned up on the 3700 block of Avalon St.
The yard contains various equipment and vehicles and has previously been cited by the Department of Licenses and Inspections, according to the civic group.
Another matter concerns a group home possibly being created on the 3600 block of Avalon St.
The residence would house mentally challenged individuals from Special People in Northeast (SPIN).
The civic board includes: Judd Newton, president; John Kucowski, vice president; Alexander Owens, financial secretary; and Mike Garozzo, treasurer.
The civic groups next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 12.
The West Torresdale Civic Association meets on the second Thursday of every other month at 7 p.m. at the 8th Police District, 3100 Red Lion Road.
