Bank robbery
suspect apprehended

Officers from the 8th Police District on Friday arrested an upstate Pennsylvania woman after she allegedly robbed a second Northeast Philadelphia bank in four days.
Members of the local police district’s 5-squad were working plainclothes duty at about 8 p.m. when they spotted a suspicious woman walking out of a restaurant on the 9700 block of Roosevelt Blvd.
The woman looked similar to a description of the person who had robbed the Commerce Bank, at 2520 Grant Ave., about a half-hour earlier. Officers James Boccalupo and James Balmer stopped the woman for questioning and went into the restaurant to investigate and interview possible witnesses.
Inside a rest room trash can, the officers found clothing and a baseball cap allegedly worn by the woman in the bank robbery.
The woman admitted to committing the robbery and a second heist, police said. She was identified as Sharon Boyle, 35, of Mountain Top, Pa. The earlier crime occurred April 17 at about 12:35 p.m. at the PNC Bank, 2200 Cottman Ave.
Boyle allegedly entered the bank and stood in line before being called to the service window. She presented the teller with a demand note that indicated she had a gun. She obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and exited the bank.
In the later heist, she allegedly handed a teller a note warning that she had a gun and demanding, "1,000 dollars in 10 seconds or BANG."
There were no reported injuries in either robbery. Boyle has been charged federally in both crimes.
